Handwaerk means craftmanship or handcraft in Danish. Handwaerk Alpaca is handspun by local artisans coming from 3 communities from the highlands of Puno, Peru: Antauta, Ajoyani, and Queracucho.
Many of the artisans have learned the traditional art of hand spinning alpaca fiber from their families, a skill that is often passed down generation to generation. A group of over 70 women formed FIBRA EMPRENDEDORA, an association of hand spinners and knitters. This group of passionate artisans work with pride, promoting the legacy of their ancestors by celebrating their traditions and honoring their origins. We are honored to bring their singular, exquisite handspun alpaca to our knitting community.

CARE
Due to the handspun nature of Handwaerk Alpaca, expect some moderate shedding to occur while knitting and during the initial wear. This will fade as the fibers bind to each other over time.
For blocking, a quick steam should suffice. Leave ample time for drying before wear with a full immersive soak.
