This cardigan was inspired by the long blades of beach grass that twist and tangle together in the coastal wind. The flowing texture is created with twisted stitches and a simple, repeatable cable motif that is engaging to knit while remaining approachable.

FREE PATTERN - The Peony Sweater is worked top down. First, the upper back panel is worked in stockinette with shoulder shaping to underarm. Then, stitches are picked up for the front right and left shoulders, which are worked separately in stockinette. After both front shoulder panels are complete, stitches are cast on for the center front neckline, and the front panel is worked in stockinette to the underarm. After completing the front, the back and front panels are connected and then the body and sleeves are knit in the round. To finish, 2x2 ribbing is worked on hem and cuffs and the collar stitches are picked up around the neckline and worked for either a rolled, folded, or turtleneck collar.
